Day 334: Canned Meat

I am watching Iron Chef Redemption and they have to create a transformation dish from canned meat. The food looks really good!

Cooking is definitely an art.

Day 332: My Favorite Scene from Up

On Day 7 I drew 'The Adventure Book' which represents what Ellie wanted to do in her life. Today I drew my favorite scene at the end of the movie, Mr. Fredrickson and Russell after they rescued Kevin, the bird. These two finally helped each other, overcame the obstacles and achieved the goal in their lives together.

Day 330: Fort McHenry and the Star-Spangled Banner

After visiting Museum of American History, watching Lincoln this afternoon I decided to read about US history. Starting with Fort McHenry, the Star-Spangled Banner and Francis Scott Key.

Day 329: A Trip

Another lovely day to be outside. Danielle and I went to FoHA (Friends of Homeless Animals) to drop off the donation from our silent auction at the company party. After she chat with the president of FoHA about fund raising idea we (as in she) drove to Stafford to Rebecca's house to see her jewelry (but mainly to see her and her place)!

By the way, Thai Chicken Salad at Panera Bread (with a lot of talk) is really good. :P

Day 328: My First Thanksgiving Dinner

I had my first Thanksgiving dinner with an American family for the first time yesterday. My friend's parents hosted it. We started with veggie snack (you have to try pickled brussels sprouts and half-cut celery filled with peanut butter!) then we had the turkey, mashed potato, stuffing with sliced apple and sweeten dried cranberries, baked bean, squash (which I thought it's a mashed sweet potato at first), bread and butter, cranberry sauce and the best was a dessert, vanilla ice cream on a baked apple sprinkled with nuts. We also had cider and ice tea. :)

Yummmm. (and thank you!)

Day 327: A Thank You Fruit Basket

An early post for Day 327 since I am not sure I will have time to do this tomorrow.

I've got invited to go to a Thanksgiving dinner at my friend's parents' house. (The dinner will be at...well...2 pm because there is a football game at 6 pm.) This will be my very first formal Thanksgiving dinner with an American family. So here I am trying to find the best way to say thank you to the host.

Even though my friend told me not to worry and it's the thought that counts I decide that a small fruit basket is the way to go. I got this cute little basket from Michael's, a craft store, and several types of fruit and a bouquet of filler flowers from WholeFoods. Ordering a fruit basket from a retail store here is very pricey. I am not a millionaire and I always like to arrange or make a gift myself. I hope it will turn out well.

Oh shoot...I still need to make a thank you card.

Day 326: Mission Accomplished

I promised you to talk about our "Hugs" mission last week. When you greet someone with a simple question like "How are you ?" and s/he is suddenly in tears, you know that something has gone wrong. And we should do whatever we can big or small to make them feel better.

Since last Friday we have been giving Karen one or two small little (cute, naughty, funny) gifts everyday along with a brown-paper tag with our own decoration and our favorite quote to go with the gifts. The goal is just to make her smile, to tell her not to worry about work so she can spend as much time as she needs taking care of her family.

Today is the last day of our mission and we gave her a book called "Everything is going to be OK" which Danielle and I found at Paper Source store. Today tag doesn't contain a quote but we ask "Would you like to have lunch with the hugging crew?" (Hey, we haven't heard the answer!)

The best part for us is her smile and our own feeling after giving.

Day 325: Black and White Leaves

Eww 1am.

Day 323: In One Purse

Hard to believe I carry all these everyday!

Day 322: Mosaic

I had a chance to be at a new mix-used complex, Mosiac, today. The whole complex filled with very modern-look buildings and a lot of well-decorated retail stores. Check it out. Sorry my sketch is not that great. I shouldn't attempt to draw this when my eyes half-open.

Day 321: Four Months ahead

I know I should be grateful that I am busy and will be. But knowing that there are big deadlines months ahead without feeling any excitement makes me questioning about myself sometimes. Maybe I just need more inspiration. Oh, well. Have a good weekend.

Day 320: Hugs

Have you ever looked around and noticed that there is a person next to you either at home or at work might need your hug or just a simple question like "how are you ?" ?

I'll tell you about the mission my friends and I are working on when it is completed next week.

Day 319: Turkeys and Santa

That's what I feel when the stores start selling Christmas decoration before Thanksgiving. Give turkeys a break!

Day 316: A Baseball Game

What a productive day for me. I went to work at 9 am (yes, on Sunday) and stayed until 4 pm. I was able to walk around the lake as the sun was setting down and got yummy Thai food on my way home. And the best part is I got Hunter's second request done! Santa playing baseball with the elves. Check out his first request, Santa playing Hockey, my 365 Day 300.

Now seriously I have only 50 days to go.

Day 315: Breakfast at Work

Okay, I missed my post last night. I crashed the bed once I got home after watching Cloud Atlas. It's quite a confusing movie. I think I'd rather watch Hotel Transylvania but the last showtime was at 3:40pm! I guess they don't think an adult like watching an animation.

Anyway, here is my breakfast at the office today, Lasagna and M&M.  Yeah, I am at work on a beautiful fall day. Sigh. (I took a bag of M&M from my business manager. He has a bucket of candy for people to grab. :P)

I got a request from Mr. Hunter that he would like to see Santa playing baseball with an elf. So it will be a post for tonight! (If you recall, he requested a drawing of Santa playing hockey not too long ago.

Day 313: Three Monsters under the Glowing Stone

Well...it's a rough day at work... (But it was such a gorgeous day to be outside and walking along the streets in DC.)

Day 312: Start Bubbling

It's not quite finished. But I have an early meeting and survey downtown. So just tiny bubbling for today.

Day 310: "Beautiful Oops"

I came across a children's book called "Beautiful Oops" today and I just started dipping aluminum foil on the watercolor, dabbing it on a blank paper, spraying some water, dabbing a different color, waiting for the whole thing to dry, then adding some dark color to get some depth and then I got this lonely flower.

Day 309: Stones

I poured 3 colors, left some white space, then brushed a bit black and blue color for grass and stone texture.

Day 308: Salvador's Dali Work

Today I have been introduced to Salvador Dali's work such as "The Persistence of Memory" (I am sure you recognize the melting watches), "Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea which at Twenty Meters becomes a Portrait of Abraham Lincoln" (I was told that the painting is placed at the end of the long corridor in the Dali museum in St. Petersburg) and "The Mae West Lips Sofa". He has a lot of interesting work to look at.

Day 307: My Doodle for the Office's Party

Here you go. My doodling for the office's party last night. It is an image of our office filled with our daily conversation. Some are normal. Some are a bit...not normal. :P

Day 306: Doodling Task

As I mentioned yesterday that I got a doodling task. Basically I had to fill the whiteboard on two sliding doors with doodle. So early this afternoon I showed up at the office in my pajamas and just doodled away until the party's time. I should have taken a photo of it and posted it as my today 365. But...well...I forgot. Tomorrow I promise!

Day 305: Too Many Arts to Do

Suddenly there are so many artworks to do. I have to doodle on the two huge whiteboards at our office because my big boss said so. I still have to finish the last painting for the silent auction which I will do in the morning instead. Oh and just finished my 365 at midnight.

But the party tomorrow is going to be awesome. We have 31 artworks so far. We, 3 girls, just installed a "StringThing" sculpture in the middle of open office tonight. We left at 11 pm. Love to see an expression from everyone but we are going to sleep in and get in late since it's going to be a long evening.
