Day 357: Kinder Eggs!

I got a present! It's Kinder Eggs special for Christmas called Adventskalender. There are 24 eggs which I am supposed to open one each day from December 1-24. But even though I got it 2 days before Christmas I am just going to keep the rule. :) I am taking a photo of the toy. Check them out from Kinder Eggs album on my Facebook!

Day 316: A Baseball Game

What a productive day for me. I went to work at 9 am (yes, on Sunday) and stayed until 4 pm. I was able to walk around the lake as the sun was setting down and got yummy Thai food on my way home. And the best part is I got Hunter's second request done! Santa playing baseball with the elves. Check out his first request, Santa playing Hockey, my 365 Day 300.

Now seriously I have only 50 days to go.

Day 307: My Doodle for the Office's Party

Here you go. My doodling for the office's party last night. It is an image of our office filled with our daily conversation. Some are normal. Some are a bit...not normal. :P

Day 297: "String Thing"

We stayed late after work to test our "String Thing" for the office party next week. Trust me our actual "String Thing" looks waaay better than my sketch! :)

Day 227: My Desk = No Rebecca Zone

I am sure everyone at the office wants to tie my business manager to her chair this week.

HA! I know you gonna see this post, Rebecca.

:D

Day 225: Let's continue guessing

In my opinion caricature is about exaggerating the components proportionally and finding a character of that person.

Day 221: Things are really getting better

Since it's the same plumber came to fix the pipe last week he asked me if I had a new garbage disposal. HA! I (super proudly) answered that I installed it myself! But I did mention that it doesn't run and the issue might be the wall switch. So he wiggled the switch back and forth. And suddenly the disposal made some noise!!! It works!!! I couldn't believe it. He agreed that it's definitely the wall switch because there was no resistance when he pushed the switch up and down.

Then on a separate issue I asked him how to replace the cold waterline since I noticed some water formed around the connection. So he looked at it and mentioned that the line is made out of plastic and shouldn't be used at all. (As you know when plastic is old will be hard and it will break. And the water will burst in this case.) So he patiently explained how to replace it, what tools and material I need, and told me to be careful not to twist the copper line that came with the faucet otherwise I might need to replace the faucet too.

So what should I do next ? Replacing a wall switch or a waterline ? : )

Oh, the leaking pipe has been replaced. Drywall ceiling repair is being scheduled!

Happy me!

Day 220: Things are getting better

Oops I fell asleep again! Worked a little late.

But things are getting better this morning. I am taking a day off (while my boss is at his big meeting ha ha) to be at home since the plumber is here to permanently fix the leaking pipe. (He is cutting the ceiling up at this very moment.) After I cleared my junk out of the room, I called the cable company first thing to get my cable box to work. (When you're nice to them, they are nice to you. They are human like us you know ? :)) And now the tv is up an running with Olympics on!

So things are getting better! Just deal with the problem one by one.

Day 217: Umm...Power next ?

Everything went pretty smoothly. (I'll write about it.) The disposal was even pretty itself. But it's not running. Maybe power repair next ?

(I noticed that I had to wiggle the wall switch quite a lot when I still had the old disposal.)

No wonder a plumber got paid so much.

I'll go paddling. I'll try again tomorrow. Ugh!

Day 216: No more paddling in the dark!

Because I got a headlight today for my night paddling tour this weekend. I could use it when I replace my garbage disposal too!

Day 213: Fantasy Drawing

I always love fantasy drawings, painting and animation (...but only when the storyline makes sense.) The look of the characters, the clothes are so interesting to look at. Today I came across this drawing by James Jean and I did a sketch of his drawings. Who would have thought the leaves could look like hair and the mushroom could look this great next to human face ?

Day 196: Great Falls Race

Today I went to see Great Falls Race. It's an extreme kayak race. This year it's on Virginia Line. Phew! it was great. Now I know that a high brace is quite useful and what the powerful forward stroke really looks like. One of the racer broke his paddle. He basically canoed his kayak through the falls and to the finish line. Very impressive. I had a photo. Please stay tuned!

Today sketch is on a tiny note paper at the hotel where I will stay with my little sister until Monday. And I had the only red pen in my purse. I left my 365 sketchbook and all stationery at home. Sigh~~ But hey I do this w/out pencil line sketch. :)

Day 195: Today, the Reality

I rode a kayak on the rock today.

Ok I capsized once at the most unexpected time and place (right near the shore). And I had to put it up there to empty the boat and got back in.

I took an EZ whitewater lesson today. Whew, what a lesson! Eddy turn was killing me on the first dozens trials. I am not a multi-task person. I can't even talk while driving. I will write about my lesson from today on my paddling blog. So much information to take in.

Anyway, even it's still a bit nerve-racking and confusing to me the lesson is fun and educational and the view of the river is very pretty and you can't see this from the shore. BUT guess what ?! You can see from my photo page! I didn't expect that I would have a chance to take one. I'll tell you about "why" on my blog. hee hee.

But I am totally achy and in need of ice cream at the moment. Please stay tuned.

Tomorrow I'll be at Great Falls Race, an annual extreme kayak competition. Umm...of course I'll be there for the photo shooting!

wow busy busy. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Day 188: A Night Kayak Tour at Pohick Bay

...it was really really dark down there that I hardly saw others. (So I followed whoever had light ha ha.)

Do you see me on the drawing ? (^^)

But we saw the sunset and the red moon rose from the skyline. They both were gorgeous. Once I upload the photos and finish writing the blog I'll post the links here.

Definitely do this again. :)

Update: 2012/07/07 Read about my trip here!

Day 181: Crazy Things on the Lake

Luckily the storm didn't happen while I was paddling this evening but there were a couple crazy and funny things I came across.

There were a dad, a boy and their dog floating on their air mattress. However their mattress was getting deflated by the claw of the doggie. I helped them moving back to the dock by pulling and pushing their air mattress. Just about half way when they said they should be okay from there. I think that's so clever. Who needs a boat to be on the water ?! ha ha.

Then there were two guys on a canoe trying to cover their head from the fountain with their paddle. (I think they just played around but it's funny to witness anyway.)

Have a great weekend!

Day 176: Artklub

Joining Artklub at Atlanta Bread today. A lovely group and store. Everyone just did their own art such as photography, sketching, soap making, glass jewelry, 3D modeling, sculpture, sewing or even improving handwriting while eating and chatting. I even ran into our new coworker who has been with the group for about a year.

Nice setting. It reminds me of our own craft night which has been on hold for a while.

Day 175: Cornhole

We had a company outing today. Great food. Great preparation. (Thank you Amy and the social team!)

One of the games we played was Cornhole. I had never done before and was still a bit confused about the rule. But David and I managed to be in the final. Woo Hoo! (But we lost to Lightening Lewis team. : / ) I was totally unreliable. ha ha. But I threw those bean bags through the hole a bunch of times.

We should have this game installed at the office!

Now I don't feel too sad about not being able to go canoeing with Reston at Jug Bay anymore...well,  ok. Maybe just a bit. :P But we can't have everything, can we ?
